The importance of our Oceans
What is biodiversity?
Biodiversity is short for biological diversity and is every living thing on earth. Natural habitats like the ocean, forests, desert and the whole planet is apart of biodiversity.

Oceans are a rich part of the Earth. Many people around the earth might transport around the earth to see a part of the ocean that they might think looks better than other parts of the ocean. It might not be an extreme reason why we should protect the oceans but sometimes it is good to protect nature just because we want to look and admire it. Sometimes when humans are in contact with nature they might damage that part of nature but sometimes it doesn't hurt to sit back and admire something beautiful. Looking at a broken thing in history might be beautiful but that isn't the case for nature.

Whenever people are talking about how important the oceans are they talk about how the oceans cover 70 percent of the Earth surface. People are always hearing that reason but they don't know why the amount of ocean we have should matter as to why we help our oceans or not. Well, the reason is that if we let the oceans die, 70 percent of our Earth dies. If there is able to be a huge amount of our earth covered by the ocean than the ocean obviously matters if we want our dry land to be healthy.

People tend to treat the treat stopping global warming and helping the ocean as two separate problems that need to be solved separately when in fact the health of the ocean affects how well the ocean cleans the air around us. 50 times more of our carbon dioxide is being absorbed and cleaned by our oceans than by our atmosphere. We need our carbon dioxide cleaned from the air because too much carbon dioxide increases then Earths temperature since it is a greenhouse gas. The ocean transports heat from the equator to the poles which regulate our climate and weather patterns.

The ocean consists of Earths most valuable resources. About 200 billion pounds of fish and shellfish are caught each year. Every year most people in the world eat fish a couple of times a month which is a lot but every time someone eats fish they are also eating small amounts of plastic without even noticing it. If the oceans are dirty then that is what we are gonna be eating through our fish. If we put oil into the oceans, we will be eating small amounts of oil whenever we eat fish because it would be in our food. If we clean the oceans, we would be also cleaning the foods we eat which would be good for the health of our fish and ourselves.

We need to save the oceans and protect marine biodiversity because it is a part of every living thing on Earth's life. Helping and cleaning the oceans would keep the air clean which would help the health of every human being. 70 percent of the Earths surface is a part of the ocean and why shouldn't we help the 70 percent of the Earth. The health of the ocean helps stop (or at least decreasing) global warming and cleans the fish we eat. And overall, if cleaning the ocean for health is not a good enough reason to help then why not try for the beauty that the oceans create.
Our oceans are one of the most important things to look after since what happens to them can affect every living and non-living thing on earth. We should all be spending every second of our day doing things that help the oceans instead of trying to forget how much they affect our everyday life. The oceans cover 70 percent of all the Earth surface and give us half of all our oxygen. The oceans also transport heat from the equator to the poles, regulating our climate and weather patterns.

It has been a huge well-known fact that we should always keep the trees healthy and we must stop cutting them down for human use. There are many reasons people believe this, for example, the animals are being affected by deforestation and we need trees to receive oxygen. The ocean gives us half of the oxygen we are using today but people don't seem to realise how big of a number that is. When we pollute our oceans and destroy the marine biodiversity by killing animals from pollution and destroying the sea plants, we are also polluting the air that we are breathing. Keeping the marine biodiversity clean and healthy would also keep the air we breathe every day clean and healthy which would ultimately keep us clean and healthy.
