Plastic effects on marine life

Marine wildlife is a very delicate thing. The smallest thing can destroy and change something that hasn't changed or been destroyed for thousands of years. But what happens when something big appears in the oceans? How would the marine life react and how would they be affected? Animals that have been effected massively from plastic pollution are seabirds, whales, fish, and turtles.

The seabirds have been around for millions of years and been able to live and nest in harmony and peace. They never needed to be scared that what they are eating will kill them until just recently when plastic pollution in the marine became a global know epidemic which doesn't seem to be getting better anytime soon. Seabirds are very dumb birds that feed on small pieces of fish that are close to the ocean's surface. When they are looking for food, they think the tiny pieces floating in the ocean is their lunch. Many seabirds end up ing from starvation because of the amount of plastic in their stomachs. Seabirds shouldn't die because we can't stop polluting something we do not own.

When people think about whales, they tend to think of them to be very strong things that don't need lots of protection - that is a very big lie. When whales are feeding on prey, they can't distinguish the plastic bottles, bags and etc between the fish they are meant to be eating. The chemicals in the plastic poison the whales which would inevitably end up in the whale's death. They think they are full after eating the plastic but the plastic doesn't actually have any nutritious value which starves the whale to death.

Save the turtles is something that many people say either to make fun of it or because they truly believe in that saying. Even if it is a meme, it is something that needs to be taken seriously. Turtles are always dying from the amount of plastic in the oceans. Sharp plastics can damage their organs and bags can block their intestines leaving turtles unable to feed, resulting in starvation. Even if they survive, consuming plastic can make turtles unnaturally buoyant, which can stunt their growth and lead to slow reproduction rates.

All animals and marine wildlife are being affected by the amount of plastic being polluted into the oceans. They are mistaking plastic for prey which leads to them dying of starvation. Almost all fish have some plastic in their stomachs. The deaths of marine life from plastic pollution is increasing every day and it doesn't seem like the number is decreasing anytime soon.
